Compass has acquired a 49 percent ownership interest inChicago-based Levy. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. CompassNorth American headquarters is in Charlotte, NC. Canteen Corp., avending machine and cafetaria firm, is one of Compass' major U.S.holdings.
In Orlando, Levy Restaurants owns the Fulton's Crab House andthe Portobello Yacht Club restaurants at Walt Disney World. Thecompany is servicing several area clients including the 1.2 millionsf Orange County Convention Center, TD Waterhouse Centre, FloridaCitrus Bowl and Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.
Levy employs 1,000 persons at its Central Florida locations and6,500 nationwide. The company's annual sales are about $220million. Compass' North American operations generate annual revenueof $2.9 billion. The company's work force totals 63,000.
