The group contends the new campus would negatively impact thesurrounding community in myriad ways, including traffic congestion.The current decision makers, including current mayor Ron Gonzalesand the planning commission, say the campus would do no such thing.Indeed, the commission is expected to recommend approval this weekand send it on for a final decision by the city council.

Cisco, San Jose's largest employer, wants to develop 688-acreswithin San Jose's North Coyote Valley Campus Industrial Area,located 11 miles south of downtown in the northern most portion ofCoyote Valley. The Cisco development would hold 20,000 workers.

The North Coyote Valley Campus Industrial Area includesapproximately 1,400 acres specifically designated for large, highprestige corporate campuses more than 15 years ago in San Jose'sGeneral Plan. In 1994, the City of San Jose adopted General Plan2020 reaffirming Campus Industrial uses in North Coyote Valley.
