The planned project comprises offices, a hotel, 300 residences,stores and restaurants, with no buildings taller than 12stories.

The long-debated SouthPark issue centers around a 50% expansionof the mall that would allow room for a Saks Fifth Avenue and about25 other retailers. Only about 15 shops are allowed under currentzoning.

In addition to voting on the Carnegie Town Center Oct. 18, thecouncil will vote on the expansion of SouthPark mall and anaddition to nearby Phillips Place, all of which have been endorsedby the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission.
