DENVER-Come January, Denver-based Murray Motor Imports will start construction on a $1.5-million BMW franchise to market vehicles that haven’t been sold in the US since 1967.

The company, which boasts more than $100 million in annual vehicle sales, is planning a 5,800-sf showroom and sales facility at 900 S. Colorado Blvd. The property will be linked by a covered walkway to its Mercedes-Benz facility.

The Mini Cooper franchise will sell the Mini, which is built in Oxford, England. Beginning in early 2002, Murray will be only of about 70 BMW dealers in the nation licensed to sell the specialty vehicle. The Murray dealerships began in 1974.

The new building will have Bavarian-Swiss architecture, says Jerry Boland, of Denver-based Gray Design Group. Haseldon Construction Inc. of Denver will serve as general contractor.
