HNTB Acquires LDR International

KANSAS CITY, MO-HNTB Architects Engineers Planners has acquired LDR International Inc.of Columbia, MD.

LDR specializes in urban design and planning, which will add to the HNTBportfolio of urban planning design capabilities, according to Becky Zahner, an HNTBvice president. LDR’s projects have included the Baltimore Inner Harbor, theEverglades National Park in Florida and the Woodrow Wilson Bridgein Virginia.

LDR has more than 40 employees in Columbia. Brian Pieplow, vice presidentand director of urban design and planning for HNTB here willrelocate to lead the Columbia office.

HNTB has 2,600 employees in 60 cities throughout the country, 400 of whom are in Kansas City. The company’s urban planning projects haveincluded the Trinity River corridor in Dallas, the central arterysurface restoration in Boston and the Kansas City Sculpture Garden.
