Barbara Jirza, manager of public and community relations formuseum, says a total of $16 million went into the purchase of theland and construction. The remaining $7 million will go toward theinterior furnishings, technology and programs, with $1 million setaside for operating expenses.

The museum was designed by Steven Holl, a New York architect whogrew up in the Puget Sound. The museum is located at the corner ofNE 6th and Bellevue Way Northeast. The museum's old headquarterswas in 10,000 sf of space on the third floor of the Bellevue Squaremall.
