Plans are in the development stages for three of the four US 321interchanges. Cansler Crossing, an 87-acre business park, willhouse commercial, industrial and residential. The land is beingdivided into five and 10-acre sites to attractwarehouse-distribution operations needing quick access to US321.

The 500-acre River Road Business Park is being developed by thecity of Hickory. This development will have office, residential,commercial and light industrial. Hickory hopes to attract mostlyhigh-tech companies.

A third project, Newton Corporate Center, will be a mixed-use500-acre business park. Catawba County planners and developers arelooking to attract businesses that need access to the Charlotteairport but want to avoid the high land prices in MecklenburgCounty.
