In June, the St. Paul City Councilhad assigned the college to bethe tentative developerof the 113,000-sf building at 30 E. 10th St.Butcollege officials say operating and renovating the oldbuildingwould be too costly.

Renovation costs wereestimated at $14 million. Now cityofficials have todecide whether to tear the building down andstartover, or find other uses for it, such as restaurants.
