Catholic Charities and the Colorado Coalition had filed thelawsuit last year on behalf of the region's homeless. Thesettlement guarantees housing for 70 homeless families at twoapartment complexes and preserves developers' efforts to makeexisting housing compatible with new construction.

The agreement also clears the way for new construction, whichhad been held up by the year-old lawsuit. Under federal law, aportion of existing military housing at bases being closednationwide must be used to provide housing for the homeless. Thelawsuit had challenged LRA's intent to follow the requirement.
