AUSTIN-An Austin executive has been named National Businessman of the Year by the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Manny Chavez is the founder of Harvard Manufacturing Texas, which provides electronic assembly, testing, installation and distribution for telecommunications companies. He serves as president and CEO for the firm that employs 250 people in the region.

Locally, Robert Gaston, an 11-year veteran of commercial real estate, is now chairing the Downtown Austin Alliance. He is a senior property manager for One American Center, one of three downtown structures owned by Equity Office Properties Trust. He has been elected to a one-year term to chair the CBD development board.
