The new Federal courthouse was designed by the architecturalteam of Richard Meier of New York and Phoenix-based Langdon WilsonArchitects.
The courthouse, at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Washington,features a vast 126-foot-tall atrium on its north side. Thebright-white building stands in sharp contrast to most of the otherbuildings in Downtown, which borrow their exterior colors from huesof the desert environment--reds, tans and browns.
The courthouse features 18 courtrooms and judicial chambers forthe US District Court and the US Magistrate.
