The US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has cited the city entityfor its aid to 35 Hispanic-owned companies, which had receivednearly $33 million in construction contracts for the new BroncosStadium. In eight of the past 10 years, the Denver Hispanic Chamberhas been honored regionally for its leadership.

"It's quite an honor to win the award," says Salvador Gomez, thechamber's chairman-elect. The Denver chamber had been competing forthe national title against San Diego, Milwaukee, Dallas and SanJuan, Puerto Rico.

The Denver chamber has more than 1,300 members. "We've gottenour members involved in a lot of capital improvement projects inthe city," says Gomez. "They're able to bid on a lot of projects inthe area because they belong to the chamber.
