Oracle Corporation is negotiating a deal for 12 acres of landsituated in Dublin along interstate 580 near the Dublin/PleasantonBART station, the East bay Business Times reported earlier thisweek. The news comes on the heels of several other firms makingrecent moves into the Tri-Valley area, prompting Mayor Guy Houstonto dub his city "Digital Dublin."

Currently, the city has a population of 32,500, but that numberis expected to grow to 60,000 as more and more companies move fromthe Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Near the Oracle site, threeother parcels are still available, and names being whispered aboutoften include other Silicon Valley tech firms.

In addition to the availability, and affordability, of space,employee demand seems to be fueling the East Bay's fire. SaysOracle VP Randall Smith: "The proposed East Bay campus would helpus provide an attractive commuting alternative for employees andprospective employees who reside in the East Bay."
