Virgin Atlantic to Operate Call Reservation Center in Stamford

STAMFORD, CT-Virgin Atlantic Airways will relocate its call reservation center from its 41,000 sf US headquarters offices at 747 Belden Ave. in Norwalk to 22,000 sf at 6 Riverbend Center here. Occupancy is scheduled for January 2001. The property is part of a 12-building, 650,000-sf office complex.

The new call center will accommodate up to 200 full and part-time workers, company officials note. The Norwalk office will remain Virgin Atlantic’s US headquarters, although the 400 employees there will be “temporarily reduced” to 250 workers after the opening of the Stamford call reservation center. Virgin Atlantic states that it intends to add employees at its Norwalk headquarters in the future.

“When we moved to Norwalk five years ago, we expected that we had enough space for at least 10 years,” says David Tait, executive vice president of Virgin Atlantic. “We have grown faster than we ever could have predicted. This expansion will encompass our anticipated growth needs for the next 10 years–we hope.”
