Hotel Conference to Explore Opportunities in Asia Pacific

NEW YORK CITY-Asia Pacific’s 11th Annual Hotel Investment Conference, scheduled for Nov. 16-17 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong, will be keynoted by C K Ow, chairman of Hai Sun Hup Group (Stamford Hotels & Resorts) with comments on building an Asian brand. The meeting is being hosted by Sonnenblick-Goldman Co., based here, and Horwath Asia Pacific.

More than a dozen sessions have been organized for the event. They include a roundtable discussion on Nov. 16 by industry leaders who will discuss the outlook for the region, strategies for growth in a low-development environment, a look at successful strategies and the strategies and implications of e-commerce. The session will be moderated by Jeff Weinstein, editor-in-chief of Hotels.

That afternoon, John Smith, managing director of Horwath Asia Pacific, will moderate a panel discussion on Opportunities and Returns in Australia and Hawaii, and later on that day other panels will consider emerging opportunities in India and the market in South Korea.

Other sessions will deal with topics such as how much it costs to maintain a hotel, the availability and structure of debt and the role of timeshares in Asia.
