In a draft of his pending decision, Durand proposes eliminatingone office tower and cutting building heights near the water, aswell as increasing distance between the buildings and the water."The secretary wants more open space and access to water," saysDoug Pizzi, press secretary at the executive office ofenvironmental affairs. "It was left that the easiest way to do thiswas to get rid of Building H. The door is open for Pritzker to comeup with an alternate plan." In the proposed plan Building Hoccupies 500,000 sf and a half acre footprint.

Pritzker's local spokesperson, Pam McDermott, could not bereached for comment by press time. She says in a written statement,"We really just need to go over this and study the implications ofit. We need time to absorb it."

Durand imposed a 250-foot height limit on buildings, which wouldcut several floors from Pritzker's proposed 298-foot Grand HyattHotel and a 275-foot office and condo building next door. Lastweek, Pritzker was quoted as saying that any more changes in hisdevelopment would make the project economically unfeasible.
