Building the Arizona Cardinals football stadium in the WestValley would cost as much as $56 million in infrastructureinvestment, half as much as the estimated amount to build theinfrastructure for a stadium on parcels in the East Valley. Thisfeasibility study, conducted by Ernst & Young, was funded by acoalition of 11 West Valley cities.

"There is no doubt in my mind we have the best possiblelocation," says Peoria Mayor John Keegan. The coalition of WestValley cities has offered up a 173-acre site at 99th Avenue andThomas Road. The most significant savings for the West Valley siteis a result of the donation of 40 acres by a John F. Long, a WestValley home builder.

A proposed site in the East Valley, along the border betweensuburbs Tempe and Mesa, would require an infrastructure investmentof $122 million, according to Ernst & Young, which alsoconducted a feasibility study for that site. The 108-acre site isat the southeast corner of Loop 202 and Loop 101.
