Wright Runstad entered into a 99-year lease with PacMed in 1998to redevelop the historic building and completed the renovation in1999, opening up 258,000-sf of office space. It now serves as hometo Amazon.com, which takes up 12 floors of the building. The lowertwo floors continue to serve as PacMed's community clinic andoffices, while the building's remaining two floors serve as storagespace, says Alex Pietsch, spokesperson for Wright Runstad.

The Amazon.com building is just the third building in Seattle towin the Urban Land Institute award since the organization beganrecognizing outstanding projects in 1979. The Urban Land Institute,headquartered in Washington DC, is a non-profit education andresearch institute that studies land use and real estatedevelopment police in practice. The organization was founded in1936 and has approximately 15,000 members.
