Kansas Speedway is a $250 million project located on 1,250 acresat thejunction of Insterstates 70 and 435 in western WyandotteCounty. It willinitially seat 75,000 fans, with the design suchthat the spectator areacould be doubled. The owner of the racetrackis International SpeedwayCorp. of Daytona Beach, Fla.

``We are delivering such a speedway for the 75,000 fans to enjoythebest attributes from ISC's other racetracks including thestoriedDaytona International Speedway,'' said Terry Flanagan,project managerfor planning and design for the speedway and vicepresident with HNTBCorp. of Kansas City. ``These attributes includesuperior sightlines,convenient ingress and egress and a streamlinedflow from parking lotsto the open and air grandstand and its 68suites.''

HNTB Corp., the DLR Group and Turner Construction Company areworkingwith nearly 45 consultants on the project. TurnerConstruction has usedmore than 150 contractors and estimatessuggest that 2,000 constructionjobs have created a payroll of morethan $50 million.
