Nationwide, there are 12 other SuperTargets in the works and 21Target Stores being built in 20 states. Other SuperTarget marketsbeing expanded are Alabama, Florida, Indiana and Iowa while entriesare being marked in Louisiana and the chain's home base ofMinnesota. The big box retailer builds 50 to 75 new stores eachyear.

In San Antonio, SuperTarget is keeping pace with itsconstruction schedule. The supercenter is being built at theintersection of Bandera and Highway 64. It will be ready forbusiness by the end of March.The Sugar Land store is located at theintersection of Texas 6 and Interstate 59. A March delivery also isexpected since construction there too is on schedule.The Arlingtonstore at the intersection of Cooper and Arbrook Blvd. won't beready to open until the July 29 nationwide grand opening for the 36new retail sites.In October, SuperTarget opened its first Texaslocation in Ft. Worth's Cityview, a retail hub at the intersectionof Bryant Irvin Road and Overton Ridge Boulevard that has attractedother big boxes such as Costco, a discount, high-end merchandiserthat opened its doors in September.

SuperTarget, introduced five years ago, is a spinoff of the10-year-old Target Greatland, the first inroad into the supercenterconcept for the retailer. There are only 16 SuperTargets in thechain in comparison to the 978 in 46 states that carry the Targetbranding of the Minneapolis-based big box retailer. Californialeads the pack in concentration with 145 Target stores and Texas,second with 86. More than 189,000 people are employed within thethree brandings.
