If the Burbank City Council approves Platt Cos.' plans, thecomplex will be built on a four-acre site at the center of theMedia District bounded by Alameda Avenue, California Street, OliveAvenue and the Ventura Freeway. The 565,000-sf project wouldinclude an 18-story office building and a six-story officebuilding, as well as an 18-story hotel, a 75,000-sf health club anda childcare facility.

Platt Cos. has spent more than two years planning the project,company president Rich Platt tells GlobeSt.com. The land comprisingthe current site was acquired from 10 different owners, and achurch that's on the site now will be torn down and rebuilt inanother corner of the development.

The project, although built around the Media District specificplan, must get special approval due to its density. "The buildingscomply with the Media District plan specific conditions, but thereare discretionary options within that plan that call for CityCouncil approval," says Robert M. Tague, Burbank's communitydevelopment director. "The biggest issue under discussion will bethe density of the buildings."
