Metris bought Banco Popular's Orlando customer service officelast summer, planning to service the Puerto Rico-based bank'scredit card portfolio. Metris currently has a staff of 100 at its5551 Vanguard St. offices near International Drive in the city'stourist corridor. The bank occupies 5,000 sf at the sameaddress.
The Orlando call center will be one of seven national Metrisoperational centers. Metris has $8 billion in receivables and fourmillion credit-card customers. The bulk of the customers earn$35,000 or less. Metris has a co-branded card with La Curacao, aSouthern California department store group.
