Seaman's Furniture Breaks Ground For New Strip Mall Store

BRICK TWP., NJ-The furniture discounter will be the first new construction at an 11-acre shopping center since Starwood Heller acquired the underperforming property in late 1998. Its completion is expected early next year.

BRICK TWP., NJ-Seaman’s Furniture has started construction on a 25,000-sf store at an 11-acre strip shopping center here. The property was acquired by Edgewater, NJ-based Starwood Heller two years ago in the wake of the closure of a Rickles Home Center store when that chain went out of business.

The Seaman’s store is replacing a demolished freestanding auto parts retailer. It is the first new construction on the site since Starwood Heller took it over.

The 90,000-sf former Rickles store on the property has already been converted to multi-tenant use. Bob’s Stores and Bed, Bath & Beyond currently occupy most of the building, although 12,300 sf remains available. The Seaman’s store is expected to open to the public next spring.
