The Clinton, MS-based telecommunications company found 37 acresin the tight North Fulton County market, about 25 miles north ofDowntown, and paid $9.8 million or about $265,000 per acre ($6.08per sf), according to Databank. The seller was a partnership led byTim Carssow, a partner in the law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton.

WorldCom has previously announced plans to build two five-storybuildings totaling 500,000 sf. It expects to complete the firststructure by the end of 2001 and will begin consolidating its workforce in the metro area. Some 2,500 workers will be housed in thenew facilities.
