Firm Wins $7.9-Mil School Contract to Build Four Gymnasiums

LOS ANGELES-New pact calls for Merco Construction Engineers Inc. to build four middle-school gyms for Conejo Valley Unified School District.

LOS ANGELES-The Conejo Valley Unified School District has awarded a $7.9-million contract to Merco Construction Engineers Inc. to build four middle-school gymnasiums in the area.

Merco was among seven contractors bidding on the project, which involves the construction of four 10,000-sf gyms at Colina, Los Cerritos, Redwood and Sequoia middle schools. The gyms will include storage spaces and restrooms,according to Sha Jarrahi, the project manager.

Construction is set to begin Nov. 28, Jarrahi tells GlobeSt.com. Completion is expected by next September, in time for the start of the 2001-2002 school year.
