The expansion effort in the Garden State is being shepherded bythe New Jersey Division of Garrick-Aug, headed by scion James Aug,who is also CEO of the New York-based parent company. In the last18 months, the division has been responsible for all of NYSC's NewJersey leases, plus 30 Sears Specialty Division stores and 13Circuit City Electronics Stores. Locations have also been securedfor 50 Paps John Pizzas, 15 of which have been consummated.

The chain operates under the New York banner here in New Jersey,but in other cities, it bears the name of its location. So, forexample, Philadelphia Sports Club and Boston Sports Club are partof the parent company. The chain offers "passports" to memberstraveling out of town for use in its sports clubs up and down theNortheast Corridor.
