DENVER-Girls Inc. of Metro Denver has broken ground on a $4.5 million, two-building center.

The center totals 20,000-sf at 3444 W. Colfax Ave. and is adjacent to its current facility.A 14,000-sf building will be used for classrooms, offices and a teen center, complemented by a 6,000-sf gymnasium. The buildings are scheduled to open in spring 2001.

Girls Inc. is a private, nonprofit agency that serves 1,600 girls from six to 18 years old in a six-county Denver metro area. With the new buildings, Girls Inc. expects to assist about 3,000 girls annually
