Mirabito Mooney & Associates Inc., a Walnut Creekself-storage company, recently finished construction of aStoragePro mini-storage facility along I-5 between the EighthStreet and Downing Avenue off-ramps and accessed by Turnpike Road.That two-month-old facility has 71,000 sf of storage and 600individual units, and is about 25% occupied.

Another storage facility is rising on 3.5 acres at theintersection of Thornton and Davis roads. Thornton RoadSelf-Storage, as its being called, will provide about 80,000 sf ofstorage space and 672 individual spaces sometime next spring.Meanwhile, at existing facilities, expansions are in the works. TheMister Space Self Storage facility and another owned by the GrupeCos. are both expanding to compete.

Until two years ago, the city was overbuilt with mini-storagefacilities, and no new applications had been submitted or processedsince 1990.
