The red brick Haslett warehouse, which originally stored cannedfruits and vegetables, was vacated in 1986 due to earthquake safetyconcerns. Kimpton plans to invest $37 million to convert thewarehouse, including a seismic upgrade of the building. In additionto the hotel, the renovated structure will include a visitor'scenter and a maritime history museum.
