Stair Manufacturer Steps up Space Needs

CHARLOTTE-Image Design Staircase is getting a new address and more room to grow. The subsidiary of Atlanta-based PlyMart Inc. will be consolidating three locations and moving in first quarter 2001 from its 10,000-sf plant on Old Statesville Road to a 23,000-sf facility. The 120,000-sf building is being developed by Childress Klein Properties Inc. at NorthPark in this north Charlotte submarket.

Childress Klein is also developing a second 130,000 sf building at the park. The two structures will have 250-foot bays and 24-foot ceilings.

NorthPark, a 250-acre business park off Interstate 77, currently contains more than two million sf in 17 existing structures. Industrial vacancy in this submarket dropped to 10.1% in the third quarter from 12.5% for the same period last year, according to Karnes Research Co.
