"It's essentially a drainage ditch now. But, after we come in,we'll make it the centerpiece of Downtown," a spokesman tellsGlobeSt.com. The company has proposed building a complex,consisting of one to three structures that are 25- to 30-storieshigh and complemented by a parking garage. The project cost, whichalso is being kept under wraps, will include a $5-million to$7-million investment to clean up a portion of an overgrown andlittered creek that runs through the property.

Vignette officials are scheduled to go before the City CouncilNov. 30 to present the site plan for approval. On Nov. 14, cityplanning commissioners voted unanimously to rezone the five-acresite of the company's proposed expansion at East Cesar ChavezStreet.

Vignette Corp. employs 2,300 people at its world headquarters,located along Austin's MoPac Boulevard. The company also hasoffices in South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The firm is asupplier of e-business applications to connect businesses withprospects and customers and assist businesses with transactionswith suppliers.
