The Cardinal Millsite on Caribou Road in Nederland, a small townnear Boulder, includes an old mining camp that could be turned intoa museum. The land will remain largely preserved under an agreementwith the owners. The deal does call for five lots around the miningsite to be developed into single-family homes.
The Cardinal Millsite includes a large mill, a compressor house,blacksmith shop, machine shop, mine office, and worker housing. Thecamp was opened in the 1870s to mine gold and silver and was closedin the 19830s.
