The treed park will include benches and a fountain. It isplanned to provide a gathering place for bank employees whilemaking the downtown a more peaceful place by passers-by, accordingto Chase's David Byford. "The reason we're doing this," Byford toldGlobeSt.com, "is that Chase has been part of downtown for 130years, and this is our way of giving back and adding to the beautyof downtown area."

The bank's concern for the amenities has been recentlydemonstrated in other ways. It has, for example, established anemployee child-care center in its Houston Club Building, next tothe park. Storefront tenants include Antone's and Hunan Downtownrestaurants. Meanwhile, the bank is converting a former Texas Clubinto office space atop the 20-story Chase Center.
