Commenting on the agreement, Governor Paul Cellucci noted that,"The plan approved today will ensure the economic revitalization ofone of Boston's historic jewels moves forward. The development ofFan Pier and Pier 4 within the harbor planning area, and theadjacent McCourt Gateway and the Convention Center, will makeBoston a destination second to none."

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino commented that, "This is probably themost exciting development that will happen in Boston in ourlifetimes. We needed to plan a waterfront fit for a city, witheveryday life and vitality. And we got the job done."

Highlights of the plan include doubling the size of the publicpark at Fan Pier Cove, a wider Haborwalk and more green spacesalong the entire perimeter of the cove and piers to provide spacefor activities along the water's edge.
