CHARLOTTE-Taking advantage of improved roads and infrastructure, Lakeland, FL-based Saddle Creek Corp. plans to replace its 346,000-sf warehouse at Twin Lakes Business Park near University City, NC with a 350,000-sf structure on 79 farmland acres in Cabarrus County, a growing warehouse hub near Harrisburg, NC, 10 miles northeast of Downtown Charlotte.

The estimated cost of the project is $8 million. The third-party distribution company’s move to Cabarrus County could prompt the near-future construction of five additional buildings valued at $22 million, according to company officials.

Saddle Creek has a permanent Charlotte work force of 80 that often grows to 400 during peak periods. The 24-year-old firm has other distribution sites in Orlando, Lakeland, FL, Atlanta, Macon, GA, Dallas and Waco, TX.
