Brian Ek, a company spokesman, says, however, the company'srestructuring program will have no impact on Priceline's workforceof approximately 400 at its corporate headquarters at 800Connecticut Ave. Priceline.com, one of the higher profile dotcomoperations in the US, thanks to advertisements featuring actorWilliam Shatner, occupies approximately 130,000 sf of space at the403,000 sf property.
Priceline.com reported on Dec. 7 that it plans to postponeindefinitely the development of business-to-business, term lifeinsurance and cellular telephone service. In addition, the companynoted that it has discontinued discussions with SOFTBANK E-COMMERCECorp. to introduce Priceline.com's buyer driven e-commerce platformin Japan.
The company says it plans to focus on its core businessescentered around "Name Your Own Price" services on-line for airlinetickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, home finance, long distancephone service and new cars.
