The partners are proposing a 150,000-sf development, thePortofino Technology Center, for the land at the corner ofInterstate 45 and Tamina Road in Montgomery County north ofHouston. "They will be suitable for such firms as data centers andcall centers," Steven Carter of Vantage Cos.' Houston Division toldGlobeSt.com. These state-of-the-art facilities will include up to100% office finish; up to six parking spaces per 1000 sf; grade,semi-dock and dock-high loading; 16-foot to 18-foot clear height;covered parking; and will be fully sprinklered.

Ground already has broken, with occupancy expected by June 2001.The site is adjacent to the new Portofino Shopping Center.

"The location, architecture, functional design, diversity,flexibility and abundance of surface parking sets this new projectapart from its competition," Carter says. "It provides a verydesirable alternative to competitive facilities."
