The development plan calls for 440 condominiums or townhomeunits, 450,000 sf of retail space and 300,000 sf of office space.Developers Joe Murphy and Bob Burkett estimate it will take about ayear to install utility lines and complete the town center'sinterior streets and sidewalks. The entire venture will take aboutseven years to complete. They have been planning the enerprise forthe past two years.

The project includes 6.6 acres of park or open space and 8.5acres for undesignated civic use. The developers believe the timingis right for the new town center. Access to the area is improvingand Harrisburg is considered one of the fastest-growing areas inCabarrus County and is expected to grow to 30,000 over the next 15years.

The preliminary land-use plan and design guidelines wereproduced by DPR Associates Inc. and Overcash-Demmitt Architects,two Charlotte firms.
