"Our initial investment went very well," Patrick Ward, thecompany's local spokesman tells GlobeSt.Com. Ward is referring tothe $800 million Intel has invested in the plant over the past yearto upgrade the microchip factory. "This investment will continue toprepare Intel to be the leader in the industry."

Intel bought the plant from Digital Equipment Corp. in 1998.According to Ward, the site here is the company's largest on theEast Coast. This investment will be the firm's first bigconstruction on this site.
