SAN FRANCISCO-The San Francisco City Commission on Environment is making available $13 million in funding for projects that help the Bayview Hunters Point and Potrero Hill neighborhoods. The funds, which are designed to address the impacts of the expansion of the Potrero Hill power plant and the shut down of the Bayview Hunters Point power plant, come from the State of California.

Possible projects include grants for scholarships, conferences, documentary films, fund-raising events, campaign outreach, endowments and budget shortfalls. A source in the Environment Commission’s office did not have any information on whether any proposals for grant money had been submitted at this time, but said that the Environment Commission will consider grants starting at $50,000. Grant for $500,000 or more must be for projects that are conducted in collaboration with the City.
