NEW YORK CITY-The National Association of Realtors, the largest professional real estate organization in the world, has come to the Big Apple in a big way. First, The Manhattan Association of Realtors got the green light to start a Manhattan branch of NAR developed to cater primarily to residential firms. Now, a group of commercial brokers have received the okay to start a New York City branch of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors, the commercial real estate arm of NAR.

GlobeSt.com has tracked the progress of this group since their first meeting on May 10th and has now learned in an exclusive interview with the group’s president and vice president that the NYSCAR chapter is up and running. “I have been on the NYSCAR board of directors through an established chapter for several years and they were always after me to start up a New York City group,” Lewis B. Kaye, CEO of LB Kaye International Realty Commercial Service Inc. and president of the new chapter, tells GlobeSt.com.

However, now that the group is out there several people are wondering what the benefit will be to joining. “This chapter will give local commercial brokers a statewide group of other real estate professionals to network with,” Kaye answers. “Business as we know it isn’t going to change, but it will give local brokers a chance to interact and do business on a much larger scale.”

The new chapter covers the five boroughs and has 25 existing members. Now that the group has been officially accepted, chapter vice president and MLBKaye International Realty president Marilyn Harra Kaye is looking forward to recruiting new members.”NYSCAR has 300 members, and we had to get a quorum before we could recruit new people,” states Marilyn Harra Kaye. “Now that we have been voted in we will be recognized throughout the state and the country.”

When asked what the significance of this recognition meant, Kay concludes, “Members who join this chapter will be affiliated with NAR and NYSCAR who do joint business all over the state and are recognized nationally. Joining with this group will allow New York City commercial brokers to get connected to a broader circle of associates and dramatically increase professionalism in our area.”
