Veterans groups had strongly objected to the selling of namingrights for the lakefront stadium named in honor of World War Iveterans. Daley had threatened to pull the plug on the project,which will require the team to play its home games Downstate at theUniversity of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana for two seasons, if itpersisted in pushing to sell naming rights. The Illinois SportsFacilities Authority will start selling $399 million in bonds thisweek.

"At a time when all of America is making sacrifices, we believethat dropping the naming rights on Soldier Field is the right thingto do for everybody," says Bears President and CEO TedPhillips.
