AUSTIN-Travis County has bought an office building in the Lake Travis area for a sheriff’s office command center. The recently completed $1.8-million transaction was for a three-story, 11,256 sf-building at 3800 Hudson Bend Rd.

Jeff Coddington, John Childers and Ford Alexander, all of the Austin office of Colliers Oxford Commercial, represented the seller, Lakeview Holdings. Travis County represented itself. The building had been occupied by Simplified, which develops software for telecommunications companies. The building was delivered vacant to the county.

The building will be the headquarters for more law officers and sheriff’s department workers who patrol western Travis County, according to information from the office of Todd Baxter, the Travis County commissioner that represents the area. It will be used as base for a department captain, three lieutenants, nine sergeants, 45 patrol officers, 10 community-policing officers, five detectives, five traffic officers and support staff.
