The MBTA held 12 acres that would have fit into the developer'splans and in exchange, SeaChain would give the MBTA a 13-acreparcel that it owns nearby and build a parking lot on thatproperty. Unions who were seeking an agreement that allconstruction would be done by union employees held up the land swapdeal. They enlisted the aid of legislators sympathetic to theircause. As of mid- November a deal between the legislators seemed tohave been worked out to allow the swap. The developer is planningon constructing approximately 500 residential units on the site aswell as office and some retail space.
