A planned upscale 38-room hotel on Ocean Boulevard and FelsparStreet north of Crystal Pier has some in the neighborhood concernedabout traffic and noise. Others are worried about a 250-room hotelproposed on Ocean Boulevard south of the Crystal Pier and near ThePromenade mall at Mission Boulevard and Pacific Beach Drive.
Brett Miller plans to develop Tower 23, a $6 million,three-story hotel occupying 23,000 sf of space. The project wouldinclude an 8,000-sf restaurant and bar. Miller hopes to beginconstruction next September and to finish within a year.
Michael Katz, president of Beachfront Properties, whose companyowns The Promenade, hopes to tear down some aging beachfrontapartments to build a $35 million hotel.
