Director of Real Estate Jeff Gellerman tells Globest.com thatthe company will close two stores in Maine, one located in Stanfordand the other in Falmouth totaling 146,000 sf of retail space andanother in Tilton, New Hampshire where the company has a 32,400 sfstore. Gellerman says the three New England stores will be vacatedby the end of February 2002. The company hopes that with the 54store closings it will be financially stronger to operate theremaining 333 locations. Though there are plans to eliminate up to1000 jobs with the closings the company plans to offer somepositions at remaining stores.
