The amendment traces its origins to the late 1990s when NikeCorp. considered building a huge office campus on top of the scenicSouth Table Mountain. Although Nike decided not to pursue theproject, Jefferson County and Golden were willing to giveincentives to entice Nike to the area despite a grassroots effortopposing it.
