The opening of the facility also marks the culmination of a34-year effort by Secaucus-based Hartz to build out its 750-acreHarmon Cove mixed-use project out of undeveloped marshlands withina few miles of Manhattan. The 18-acre site occupied by theCorporate Express facility was the last developable site within thelarger tract.

From those marshlands, Hartz has fashioned a sprawling complexof 13 million sf of warehouse, distribution and office space, aswell as a retail component of 120 outlet stores, three hotels and1,400 luxury residences. The Meadowlands Hospital is located withinHarmon Cove, as is the U.S. headquarters of Panasonic.

Doing the honors for Corporate Express' ribbon cutting were thecompany's NY Metro Division president, James Simms, along withHartz president/COO Emanuel Stern and Secaucus Mayor DennisElwell.
