WinMill Breaks Ground On Retail Site

LAS VEGAS-WinMill Development Corp. broke ground on a 16,000-sf retailcenter called Flamingo Marketplace near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway. The project is within the busy Flaming Road-Maryland Parkway Corridor, says Matt Bear, principal of NewMarket Advisors, the broker on the deal.

“This location has long been under-utilized by Nevada Power Co. and, yet, is one of the most powerful retail corridors because of the population density and traffic counts,” Bear says. “The concentration of office and medical space also makes this a great restaurant location. That’s who we’re hoping to attract.”

Another project by WinMill is the Wild Oats Marketplace on the corner of Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya.

“The Flamingo Corridor is a great location where many new, high-end restaurants and shops are located,” WinMill Development Corp. president Loren Miller says. “And the location, near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway, is the busiest non-gaming intersection in Las Vegas.”

Situated at Flamingo Road and Cambridge, Flamingo Marketplace is near University of Las Vegas-Nevada and about half mile from the Boulevard Mall.

Current tenants are Super Pawn and Verona’s Catwalk, an alternative clothing retailer, and an additional 4,011-sf end pad provides a potential restaurant site.

Flamingo Marketplace is slated for completion in January.

The general contractor is Simac Construction.

“This is our second project with Loren Miller and we look forward to continuing our relationship with (Miller) and Matt Bear,” says Loretta Ashcraft, spokesperson for Simac Construction. “We’re very excited to be part of the tremendous growth in the Flamingo Corridor.”
