OAKLAND, CA-The Oakland Athletics baseball team is studying a consultant’s report about possible new stadium sites in Alameda County.

Team owners Steve Schott and Ken Hoffman have been trying to find a new stadium for the past few years. Earlier this year, the baseball team started negotiating with the city of Santa Clara in an effort to move the A’s to Santa Clara County.

“With the available resources and desire on the part of all parties, a deal can be reached,” said A’s President Michael Crowley to the Santa Clara City Council earlier this year.

Since then, negotiations have faltered and the A’s are now considering possible stadium sites in Oakland and Alameda County.

“This morning we received the study from HOK evaluating possible new stadium sites in Alameda County. We are currently in the process of reviewing it and we’re excited about sitting down with officials from the city and county to discuss it in more detail,” says Crowley.

Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK), one of the world’s largest architectural firms, has designed several classic-style ballparks in the last decade, including Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco.

The announcement was made on the same day that Oakland A’s star first baseman Jason Giambi announced that he was switching to the New York Yankees.
